“We all loved reading your book and appreciated your thoughts on tikkun olam and how each of us can make a difference in making our earth a better place for all life. Your slideshow was very informative and inspired us to create rain gardens. Your ideas give us hope for the future.”

Are you looking for a book club recommendation?

Book clubs love Turning Homeward: Restoring Hope and Nature in the Urban Wild. It’s short (166 pages) but substantive, weaving memoir with nature writing to inspire a meaningful engagement with place, home, and the nature that’s close to our lives.

Turning Homeward is about salmon restoration and nature in the city, but it’s also a memoir exploring the creation of a marriage, a pregnancy, the death of an infirm parent, the Jewish concept of tikkun olam (repair of the world), and the challenges of making a home in a new community.

I would love to visit your book club either in person (if feasible) or via Zoom. I can drop in for a half-hour Q&A visit, or I can join you at the beginning for an extended discussion. I can also have a PowerPoint presentation available if you want to learn more about coho salmon, stormwater, tree planting, becoming a naturalist, or a similar topic.

Email me at adrienne[at]adrienne-ross-scanlan.com to arrange a visit to your book club. I’d love to hear from you, and we’ll have a lot to talk about, I’m sure.
